Governor Scott appoints three to Florida courts
June 20, 2011
Florida: Governor Rick Scott has announced the appointment of three judges to Florida's benches. Appointed to the First District Court of Appeal were Ronald V. Swanson and Stephanie Williams Ray. Mark W. Klingensmith will become the newest addition to the Nineteenth Circuit Court in July.[1][2]
Swanson has served as a judge on the First Circuit Court since 2003. Earlier in his legal career, he spent twenty years with the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps.[1]
Ray was most recently the Chairwoman of the Florida Public Employees Relations Commission. Before that, she held several administrative positions within the Florida State University College of Law.[1]
Governor Scott praised both appointees for their judicial conservatism.[1]
Klingensmith leaves his post as mayor of Seweall's Point in order to join the circuit court. His legal career has been spent in the private practice of law.[2]
