Governor signs new DUI bill into law
April 30, 2011
Washington: On Wednesday, April 27, Gov. Chris Gregoire signed into law a bill that will make arrests tougher on drunk drivers arrested in the state. The new law, named "Hailey’s Law," after a woman involved in a head on collision in 2007, requires law enforcement officers to impound the cars belonging to people they arrest for driving under the influence. The cars are required to be held for 12 hours, an effort towards making sure the individuals arrested are sober before they are allowed to drive their vehicles again.[1]
