This measure sought to renew the current school levy which will be set at a rate of $.80 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further ten years in order to continue to pay for sinking fund, construction and repair costs in the school district.[2]]

The question on the ballot:
| Shall the current authorized millage rate of 1.0 mill which may be assessed against all property in Grand Ledge Public Schools, be renewed for .80 mill ($0.80 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 10 years, 2012 to 2021, inclusive, to continue to provide for a sinking fund for the repair or construction of, and the purchase of real estate for, school buildings and all other purposes authorized by law; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2012 is approximately $975,000 (this is a partial renewal of millage which will expire with the 2011 tax levy)?[3] |
