Three of the seven seats on the Granite School District school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. Todd Zenger ran unopposed and won the Precinct 1 seat after incumbent Dan Lofgren did not run for re-election and candidate Sjaanie Olds withdrew from the race. Precinct 2 and 4 incumbents, Connie Anderson and Sarah Meier, also ran unopposed and won re-election to their seats.[1]

Canyons School District is located in Salt Lake County, Utah. The county seat is Salt Lake City. Salt Lake County was home to 1,107,314 residents in 2015, according to the United States Census Bureau.[6] The district was the third-largest school district in the state in the 2013–2014 school year and served 70,407 students.[7]
Demographics
Salt Lake County outperformed in comparison to Utah as a whole in terms of higher education achievement from 2010 to 2014. The United States Census Bureau found that 31.3 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 30.6 percent of all state residents. The median household income in the county was $61,446, compared to $59,846 statewide. The poverty rate in the county was 11.9 percent, while it was 11.3 percent for the entire state.[6]
