MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin: A grassroots organization in Wisconsin has filed an emergency injunction in the Supreme Court to block new regulation on issue advertisements.
The Wisconsin Chapter of Americans for Prosperity filed a request in the state's highest court to block an administrative rule issued by the Government Accountability Board which requires registration and disclosure for communications engaged in issue advocacy[1].
Despite the Legislature did not approve a bill which contained the same regulations during the 2009-2010 session, the Board approved the regulations as an administrative rule on March 30, 2010[2][3].
The Wisconsin Club for Growth, Wisconsin Right to Life, and One Wisconsin Now have also filed lawsuits in federal court asking for a temporary injunction to the rule[4].
