Elections

Voter and candidate information

The Greece Central Board of Education consists of nine at-large members elected to staggered three-year terms. Three seats are up for regular election every third Tuesday in May.[2] Three seats were up for election in 2015, and three seats were up for election in 2016. Voters could vote for all three seats in the election, and the three candidates who received the most votes were considered elected to the board.[3] There was no primary election, and the general election was held on May 17, 2016.

School candidates have to be at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens, and residents of the district for at least one year prior to the election. They are required to be able to read and write and cannot be employees of the school district. Candidates cannot have been removed from another school board position within a year of running for office and cannot hold another elected office that is incompatible with the school board. To get on the ballot, candidates had to file nominating petitions with the clerk of the school district by April 18, 2016.[4]
