Haas made the following statement to Ballotpedia regarding his political philosophy:[1]

My philosophy is that government in the United States and in Wyoming is designed and exists for the purpose of protecting those who can not protect themselves from those who abuse power in whatever shape it may take.

I'm not so much interested in blaming groups (parties) and individuals for bad decisions but I am interested in learning from mistakes of my own as well as others. I'm interested in finding real solutions to real problems, not just figuring out more ways to make the rich people richer. [2]
