I was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1966 to Wayne and Wilma Musselwhite. We gradually moved south throughout the years from Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and finally to Florida. I graduated from Mobile County High School in Alabama, Class of 1984.
After years as a pipefitter and welder I became an American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). Welding Codes and specifications are in place to ensure the safety of those at the facilities as well as the surrounding communities. These jobs have been located all over the US, from Florida to Washington St. and from Texas to Minnesota. Currently I am working to build the first nuclear power plant in the US since River Bend Plant which went online in 1986. Providing quality oversight is an enormous responsibility, and I am grateful they thought I had the integrity, as well as the intelligence to fulfill their commitment to quality.
Traveling across this great country has given me a unique perspective and allowed me to meet a lot of people from various backgrounds and cultures. Each place has its own way of solving problems. We can learn much from other's successes as well as their failures.
After years of travel working as a welder and currently as an inspector, my children are now adults with families of their own. I look forward to the next chapter in our lives, and taking an even greater responsibility, meeting the challenges of representing Florida District 20.
  • We must Build the Wall and secure the border for the security of our nation. Immigration reform is essential, we need immigrants to grow our nation but there are laws that govern this process.
  • Our next looming crisis is the national debt. We as a Nation cannot continue to put the burden on our children, a ballanced budget is necessary.
  • The current state of our government is a testimony for the need for term limits for Congress. Being in a job too long leads to complacency at best and corruption at worst.
Indisputably, immigration is one of the biggest debates of this century. It is a complicated problem compounded by a Congress who has refused to solve our broken immigration policy for years. Now, it is a crisis.

Mass numbers of people are gaining entry without:
1. Proper documentation, which bypasses screening process (cuts line for legal immigrants)
2. Health records / immunizations, brings an alarming increase in once eradicated diseases, like measles
3. Criminal background checks, this allows human traffickers to exploit women and children as well as allow Drug cartels to increase the flow of illegal drugs
The desire of a better life in America is understandable (especially at taxpayer's expense), and many risk the journey to escape bad situations in their home country. The first step in solving any problem is to gain control of the situation. To fix the immigration problem, we must secure the border now. Then we can develop a plan to help not only the ones already here, but the ones who still want to come, true immigration reform.

Illegal immigration affects every facet of our lives, from impacts to health care to jobs. America needs immigrants to help grow our economy by bringing in people that will contribute to our labor force. New people bring fresh ideas, diversity and a different perspective, allowing the U.S. to continue to be the best we can be.
Statesmanship has been sorely lacking in our politicians as of late. There used to be a certain dignity of office that people respected, even if the representative was from an opposing party. It is an old joke about politicians lying whenever they speak, but I believe Honesty and Integrity should be high on your list for a politician.

In todays world there is a camera in your face almost every waking moment, so it is very easy to be caught out in a lie. It is best to always "say what you mean, mean what you say." Don't try to be cute and twist words or put a spin on things. I respect the individual who speaks their mind and is straight with me, tell me the truth.
That I served my country, and did my best to represent the citizens of my district. I am not looking to be famous, just leave a better place for the children and grandchildren of this nation.
August 16th 1977 we lived in Coalfield TN and I was 11 years old. My aunt was a big music fan and I can remember her playing records of Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and of course Elvis. The TV networks had just broadcast the news of Presley's death and she was crying. At this time of my life it was a shock to hear of the death of someone so young and vibrant. It was my first exposure to the dangers of drug use. This was a profoundly shocking moment for me and I have never felt the need to experiment with drug use. I don't know if it was the loss of the entertainer or the sound of my aunt's grief that affected me more. Drugs have robbed so many of us of loved ones, and deigned the world of so much that was beautiful.

Baby Shark.... tell me it isn't stuck in yours now... I still love the grandbabies though.
I would have to say the most common thing people struggle with, losing weight... I really love my wife's cooking. As I have aged it gets harder and with the onset of type 2 diabetes it is much harder. But with a loving family I have made strides and am continuing to get my weight down to a more managable and healthy range. I still have a weakness for pumpkin pie....
Experience in government can be beneficial, but not necessary. Government has become a business unto itself and has been run inefficiently, not utilizing tax dollars to their fullest. It is always good to pool people with differing backgrounds and experiences to get new ideas. How can a government represent people if all of the officials are of a particular background? Politicians have to have real world experiences outside of government to know how policies affect people. A government for the people by the people...

For instance, how could one have meaningful input to a committee like "Armed Services", without ever serving in the military? I believe it is important for a representative to bring "subject matter expertise" to be able to fashion legislation that will not have unintended consequences, and actually help our citizens.

Being in power too long is not good, term limits are needed. Being in any job for too long leads to complacency and sometimes corruption. The founding fathers intended for a representative to serve for a time and return to private life.
The greatest challenge facing our nation will be uniting as a country. The division runs deep along political lines and as each party tries to dominate the news cycle for attention, it is with identity politics. We are divided by age; sex; race; culture and every other conceivable statistical category. WE ARE AMERICANS! This is the greatest nation on Earth because of our diversity, and our ability to innovate.

Civility and respect for other people's opinion used to be the norm, now with social media leading the way each side "vilifies" the other. The First amendment entitles you to speak your mind, but does not give you the right to harass people in public because you don't agree with their point of view. If we all treated others how we would like to be treated, it would be a step toward healing the divide in our nation.

I would be happy to serve on any committee where my background and experiences would contribute meaningful input into their deliberations.

With a background as a welder and inspector working on petrochemical and energy production, Energy and or Labor would seem a natural fit. A passion for fishing and the great outdoors would lead me to environmental concerns and the Natural Resources committee.
A two year individual term is sufficient, giving time to propose legislation and see it to fruition.
The 22nd amendment limits the President to two terms, but why only the President? Being in any job too long can lead to complacency as well as possible corruption. Serve your country for a time, and return to private life and live under the legislation you helped to fashion. America does not need nor want a new ruling class.
