Greg Schultz is the campaign manager for former Vice President Joe Biden's (D) 2020 presidential campaign. A veteran of the 2008 and 2012 Obama presidential campaigns in Ohio, Schultz has worked with Biden as a campaign operative and advisor for roughly a decade. Before working on Biden's presidential campaign, he served as executive director of Biden's American Possibilities PAC.[1]
Career
Schultz served as an executive assistant to Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D) from 2008 to 2009, where he oversaw the Bureau of Workers Compensation, Rehabilitation and Corrections, Youth Services, and Veterans Affairs. Before joining Hillary Clinton's (D) 2008 presidential campaign as Ohio political director, Schultz managed several local and statewide campaigns across Ohio.[1][2]
After Clinton lost the 2008 presidential primary, Schultz joined Barack Obama's (D) presidential campaign as Ohio deputy political director. Schultz continued to work for Obama after he became president, serving as his Ohio director with a focus on communications, voter protection, and digital operations.[3]
Schultz served as Obama's state director during his re-election bid in 2012. From 2013 to 2017, Schultz worked as a senior advisor to Vice President Joe Biden (D) and special assistant to Obama in the White House.[1]
After leaving public service, Schultz joined Biden's American Possibilities PAC as the executive director, working there from 2017 to 2019. The Washington Post described the leadership PAC as a "vehicle to travel the country and get involved in state and local races and build relationships in key states before the race for the presidential race begins in earnest."[4]
Schultz graduated from the Ohio State University with a B.A. in history and political science in 2003 and a master's degree in education in 2004.[1]

Primary election activity
In the months leading up to Biden's presidential announcement, Schultz was involved in meetings with potential advisors and supporters. CNN reported in January 2019 that Schultz was meeting with operatives in early primary states, including Iowa and South Carolina, and party leaders like former Congressional Black Caucus Chair Cedric Richmond (D-La.).[5]
Biden announced he was running for president on April 25, 2019, with Schultz serving as campaign manager.[6][7] Schultz traveled across the country in May 2019 giving presentations to potential funders on the campaign's digital operations and proposed path to victory.[8]
