|I have never held a political office outside of the education system before, I already have my dream job as an educator in the public school system. When I am done with politics I will return to the classroom. I am not going to be a career politician, if elected I will be in congress for a maximum of 4 years. The fundamental change that I want to see will start with my example.
I grew up in Louisiana and after Katrina happened I started to work for a natural disaster company that brought me all over the U.S.. During this time I learned about the struggle that everyday people go through with disasters, work, drugs, and many more things. After this I decided to follow my dream to become a teacher and wrestle at a higher level. I moved to Northern Michigan where I followed my dream and met my wife. We then moved to Las Vegas for a teaching job in CCSD. We only planned to be here for a few years, but now we are about to buy our 2nd house and have our first child.
District 4 is a very diverse district. I have traveled in my RV through most of the district exploring Nevada. It's a beautiful area with people who just want peace.- Our government is corrupt. I plan on exposing what is presently going on up there to everyday people. As a teacher, I will teach the public how the corruption is happening and how to fix the problem with advice from like minded people. This also falls in line with Term Limits, politicians are going to congress as middle class people and leaving as millionaires. By only allowing people to be up there for a certain amount of years this will address long term corruption.
- Our K-12 Public Education System is facing a crisis. We have a teacher shortage all across the U.S. , our students are over tested and testing companies are making billions off of tax payers, and our education model is outdated for the 21st century. We need to recruit people into the education sector by offering them an incentive. This incentive could be in a form of a grant for their higher education. We need to reevaluate what our public education mission is and see if testing is in our best interest of our children. Our world is changing, our education system should be changing with it. The education system today is almost exactly identical from the 1970's, our world is changing and so does our education system.
- Health Care Industry needs to change. My family had an emergency situation and we went to the hospital that is on our insurance plan. This emergency was something that 1 and 5 women go through during their life. We saw multiple doctors in the Emergency Room, every doctor that we saw was not covered by our insurance because they were out of network doctors. Our total cost for this medical emergency that 1 and 5 women go through cost us about $5,000. Imagine if I didn't have insurance, who can afford to pay $5,000 unexpectedly? I can't. I have learned about single payer insurance and it sounds a lot better then our present system. Our system has to change, it is the 21st century and health care should be a right and not a privilege.
Bernie Sanders inspired me to put my name on the ballot. It is going to be a tough road, but if people don't like me run for office who does that leave to run. Sanders never became corrupt and always voted for the people. When he saw wrong he spoke up.
Integrity means I do the right thing when no one is looking. I know something is wrong and I do not just ignore it.
Speak for the people means that the people I represent I speak on behalf of them. I do not speak for a cooperation in my district, but I speak for the people who are impacted by that cooperation.
Leave personal bias out, I am a human and I will have views that are different. I come to the office open minded and ready to make our society better.
I also recall watching congress and the senate debate about going to war and who was at fault for this. I never heard of the people who did this to our country and wanted to know why. This event taught me to start learning about history and how big the world actually is.
My real first job was working for my father on the weekend on construction sites. I would either be hauling coating/shingles/plywood far distances or cleaning up job sites.
This book was not written by a professional writer. It was written by a person who wanted to get a message out there by telling his personal story. It is about a man who conquered several things, but also fell short on somethings. Author Goggins does a great job explaining his thinking and down falls and what motivated him. He inspires people to do what they want at 100%. If you chose to read this book, follow through with it. It changed my life.
As an educator, I am witnessing kids that are in my classroom go through trauma everyday. This trauma will impact these students for a long time. The public school system is short handed in counselors, social workers, and teachers. This is one of the reasons I got involved in the education system. Our school needs to address the issues that are impacting society right now.
