Gregory I. Massing is an associate justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the intermediate appellate court for the state of Massachusetts. He was appointed to this position by Governor Deval Patrick and joined the court on September 20, 2014.[1]
Education
Massing earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1982 and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1990.[1]
Career
Massing began his legal career first as a law clerk for Federal District Court Judge A. David Mazzone and then as an associate with the law firm of Ropes and Gray, before entering public service. He has served as an assistant district attorney, an assistant attorney general and as general counsel to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security. From 2011 until his 2014 appointment to the Massachusetts Appeals Court, Massing was the executive director of the Rappaport Center for Law and Public Service at Suffolk University Law School.[1]
