Biography
Nichols is the partner and owner of the company The Automation Technology Network, where he works in engineering management as a control systems architect. He earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin and his master's degree in business administration from Cardinal Stritch University. He and his wife have four children.[5][6]

Three of the seven at-large seats on the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education were up for general election on April 7, 2015. The seats held by incumbents Roger Bonuchi, Gregory Nichols and Kevin Kirberg were on the ballot. Bonuchi did not file to run for re-election, leaving Nichols and Kirberg to run against two challengers, Heather Drake and Sharlyne P. Williams. Both incumbents were re-elected, and Drake won a seat on the board.
