I am a native Charlottean and married with 3 daughters. I am a former educator. Since leaving the education field, I have been in the nonprofit sector for 15 years serving youth in several different capacities. Service to community is something I have done for several years. A few of the roles I have held with the community are as follows: Chair of the Mayor's Mentoring Alliance, Chair of the Education Committee for the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte Mecklenburg, Co-Chair of the Student Wellness Committee on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Equity Committee, Director of Education for Sigmas of Charlotte. In these roles I served as an education advocate for the marginalized populations of our community. Through my advocacy work I have helped change policy and built strong relationships throughout the community. The relationships that I built, will allow me to be a great School Board member that can be viewed as a collaborative solution based problem solver that is a systems thinker.
  • Quality Education for students regardless of the school they attend
  • Equitable resources to help close disparity gaps
  • Improved school Experience for students and CMS staff
I am passionate about policy surrounding student outcomes, student discipline, and student wellness.
