Gregory Prudich was a candidate for at-large representative on the Mercer County Schools Board of Education in West Virginia. The general election was held on November 8, 2016. He lost the election.[1][2]

Prudich previously served on the board from 1999 to February 2016, when he resigned in order to pursue a judge position in the West Virginia Judicial District 9.[3] Prudich lost in the general election on May 10, 2016.

One seat on the Mercer County Schools Board of Education was up for special election on November 8, 2016. In her bid for re-election, appointed incumbent Jacinda Santon Smith defeated newcomer M.C. "Skip" Crane Jr. and former member Gregory Prudich to win another term.[1][4][2]

The judges of the West Virginia Circuit Court are elected in nonpartisan elections to serve eight-year terms. Judges must run for re-election when their terms expire.[6]

The chief judge of each circuit court is selected by peer vote. Term lengths vary by circuit.[6]

Qualifications
To serve on a West Virginia Circuit Court, a judge must be:[6]

  • a citizen of West Virginia for at least five years;
  • a resident of his or her circuit;
  • at least 30 years old; and
  • practiced in law for at least five years.
