Voter and candidate information

The Guilford school board consists of 11 members elected to four-year terms, however, due to a restructuring of the board, all seats up in 2014 were for two-year terms. A bill passed by the North Carolina State Legislature in July 2013 that goes into effect in 2016 eliminates an at-large seat and a district, and also makes the elections partisan. In 2014 the board consisted of nine members elected by geographic electoral districts and two members elected at-large.[4]

There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Five seats were on the ballot in 2014.[5]

The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was February 28, 2014.[6]
