Guy Cecil is the former chief strategist for the pro-Hillary Clinton (D) presidential super PAC, Priorities USA Action. Previously, Cecil served as the political director and executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. In 2008, he was the field director for Clinton’s 2008 presidential bid.[1][2]
Career
Early career
Guy Cecil began his career as a high school teacher at Northwest Christian Academy in Miami, Florida. He was also a minister at Northwest Baptist Church.[2]
Political campaigns
Shortly after his teaching career, Cecil moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he joined the campaign of Tom Keane Jr., who was running for Massachusetts’ 8th Congressional district. Keane lost the primary election to Mike Capuano in 1998.[3][2]
After Keane's defeat, Cecil went to Columbia, South Carolina to work on Fritz Hollings' (D) U.S. Senate campaign as the field director. In 2000, Cecil was the field director for Mel Carnahan's (D) U.S. Senate campaign in Missouri.[2] That same year, he had worked on Al Gore's (D) presidential bid.[2]
In 2002, Cecil ran Mark Pryor's (D) U.S. Senate campaign in Arkansas. He was the campaign manager in 2004 for Erskine Bowles' (D) Senate campaign in North Carolina.[2] Also in 2004, Cecil served, for a short time, as a consultant for Gen. Wesley Clark’s (D) presidential campaign.[2]
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) Chairman Charles Schumer and Executive Director J.B. Poersch appointed Cecil as political director for the DSCC in 2005. After taking the position for two cycles, Cecil was asked in 2007 to join Hillary Clinton's (D) 2008 presidential campaign. He ran the campaign's New Hampshire ground operation. His success in the state led to his promotion to national political director and field director for the campaign.[2]
From 2009 to 2010, Cecil served as Sen. Michael Bennet's (D-Colo.) chief of staff. He followed his role under Bennet serving as the executive director of the DSCC.[1]
Board activity
Cecil has served as the vice chairman of the board of trustees of E. L. Haynes Public Charter School in Washington, D.C.[1]

In May 2015, Guy Cecil joined the pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC, Priorities USA Action. Cecil took over for Jim Messina, who was serving as the co-chair of the committee and had moved into more of an advisory position. The Washington Post, at the time, stated that Cecil would be serving as the senior strategist for the group.[4] In an interview on July 29, 2016, Cecil told Politico that the super PAC was going to launch a $10 million campaign to "make sure we are doing everything we can to turn folks out."[5]
