I seek for the families of every young person currently in our public schools the same enabling experience afforded my family. To do that, however, we must grapple with how to realign our resources (both people and material), broaden our teaching and classroom strategies, and expand our cultural and racial knowledge, so that the meaning and shape of the educational experience offered our increasingly diverse student population is substantive, equitable and inspirational. We must embolden building leaders to be creative and encouraging as teachers and their assistants build a student environment that engages, support, and uplift pluralism. We must strive to establish an interconnected relationship between parents, teachers, administrators, the community, students and BoE members so that Montgomery County continues to lead the Nation as a place where all children are nurtured to educational excellence. The health and future of our nation is contingent on the strength and character of the hearts, minds and intellect of our children. Our children are our greatest and most important resource…they are the future. Persons to whom children are entrusted have the wealth of the nation in their hands. Those who hold the wealth of the nation MUST be supported!!! [3] |
