Gwyn Gulley is a judge of the Seventeenth Circuit Court in Illinois.[1] She has served the court since 2009.[2] She was retained on November 4, 2014, for a term that expired on December 6, 2020.[3]

Gulley was retained to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court with 76.8 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [3] 

Evaluations

Members of the Illinois State Bar Association and other participating attorneys rated Gulley as Not Recommended for retention in a 2014 poll.[4]

In order to be recommended, candidates must receive a 65 percent “yes” response when asked if they meet the requirements of office. The percentage is based only on "yes" and "no" responses; "no opinion" responses are not factored in.[4]

Education

Gully earned undergraduate degrees in political science and home economics from Illinois State University at Normal in 1986. She went on to receive her J.D. in 1991 from the Thurgurd Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.[5]

Career

Prior to joining the court in 2009, Gulley worked as an attorney for Greg Tuite Associates and as commissioner and vice chairwoman of the Chicago/Rockford International Airport Authority Board. She practiced law for sixteen years in Rockford.[5]
