Concerned about the rural nature of the area with combined county and municipal law enforcement coverage so I decided the position of Constable would let me best serve the people in this township. I will complete the training necessary per AR guidelines to be ready to fulfill the task.
  • I want to be available for response when and where needed to my township in the event of a fire, car accident, medical emergency, or even road closure due to extreme weather conditions as well as welfare check on individuals whe called upon.
  • I will complete necessary training required for AR Constable
  • My desire to have coverage to assist law enforcement in my township is my goal.
The wellbeing and safety of the people in my township.
Due to some rural nature of some AR counties combined with the limited availability of deputies the position of Constable is one that some don’t fully realize. A Constable has required training equal to or even more than the Sheriff and deputies. Therefore being an elected position a Constable is chosen by the people in that township they are to represent. Requirements of one in this position are vague sometimes even to the Sheriff of the county in which their township is in. Fully marked vehicle, uniform standard, communication devices, and weapon is normally furnished by the elected Constable. Very little and usually no pay is afforded one in a Constable position even though it is an elected office.
Character and responsibility to the people who you are elected to serve.
A decline in having a constant figure in the home, someone to instill values and have a positive impact on them into full adulthood has led to a lack of or even a total disregard for authority. I would like to make a positive impact to help reverse that trend in my area.
Watching the demoralization of our society and distrust of the government.
A Constable has the same legal power in their township as the Sheriff of the county in which the township is within.
Not necessarily. Training and yearly updates to training are available when one is sworn in.
A good character of person who is well liked and trusted by the people in the area they are to represent is key.
With this county being a split county with 2 county seats and also divided by a river with only one connecting bridge between the North and South parts law enforcement is often spread thin and response time varies. So depending on the nature of the situation by having a Constable who knows folks plus their area but generally is always available lends better coverage in times of need.
