H. Woody Thrasher was the West Virginia Secretary of Commerce. He assumed office in 2017. He left office in 2018.

Thrasher (Republican Party) ran for election for Governor of West Virginia. He lost in the Republican primary on June 9, 2020.

Biography

Thrasher co-founded The Thrasher Group, and architecture and engineering firm, alongside his father in 1983. The organization grew to become the largest engineering firm in West Virginia and expanded with offices in Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland.[1]

Political career

West Virginia Secretary of Commerce (2017-2018)

Thrasher was appointed to serve as the West Virginia secretary of commerce by Gov. Jim Justice (D) on December 27, 2016. He took office on January 16, 2017.[3] He resigned in June 2018 following problems with a flood recovery effort housed within his department.[4]
