HI Governor appoints Richard Pollack to the State Supreme Court

Honolulu, Hawaii: On June 5, 2012 Hawaiian Governor Neil Abercrombie nominated O'ahu judge Richard W. Pollack to the Hawaii Supreme Court. The appointment will fill the vacancy left by Judge James Duffy. Pollack currently serves on the O`ahu First Circuit Court, Hawaii. He was appointed to the court in 2000 by then governor Ben Cayetano. Pollack attended the University of California at Santa Barbara earning a B.A. with honors. He went on to attend the Hastings School of Law earning a J.D. He currently serves as a professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law and worked as a State Public Defender from 1987-2000. Governor Abercrombie commented on the nomination, stating "I am confident that the core values of the constitution and Hawai'i are well met in Judge Pollack." Judge Pollack responded by telling the press, "I am extremely honored by the Governor’s nomination. It is deeply gratifying to be nominated to our State’s highest court whose decisions can have such a beneficial effect on the lives of our island people."[1] Pollack's nomination still requires approval from the state senate.
