Noteworthy events

Patton removed from primary ballot

In January 2018, an appellate court judge ruled that Patton should not appear on the ballot because he signed an election petition for a Democratic candidate in 2017 and voters cannot sign election petitions for more than one party. Patton and his team appealed the decision. On February 9, the Illinois Supreme Court ordered Patton's name remain on the ballot while a final decision was reached. On March 9, the Illinois Appellate Court ruled for the second time that Patton's name should be removed from the ballot. The state Supreme Court announced it would not hear Patton's appeal on March 13.[3][4][1][5]
