I have spent the last five years working as a student organizer, Campaign Manager for several Saint Paul races, and, currently, serving as the Policy Director for a statewide advisory council the Minnesota Youth Council. I am running for office because as a young, BIPOC woman I understand what it means to struggle within the public education system in Minnesota. I have faced the disparities that are often touted by decision-makers. It’s through my own lived experiences and the work I’ve been fortunate to be a part of that has shaped my ethos. I work directly with young people in my role with the Minnesota Youth Council. Every day I am privileged to assist students as they navigate how they advocate for themselves and their peers in political spaces. From this role and the years I have spent organizing around local and statewide issues in Saint Paul, I have had the opportunity to engage with SPPS students and alumni and gain a deeper understanding of their experiences within the district. I am honored to have earned the support of the DFL, SPFE, SPRLF, AFSCME Council 5, Take Action MN, and others. Ultimately, I’m running for the board, because if we provide our young people with the tools, they will succeed on their own terms.
  • Student-centered decision making and engagement
  • Additional mental health supports in our buildings (i.e. trauma informed providers, social workers, and mental health professionals)
  • Recruitment and support of Black, Brown, and Indigenous educators and building staff
I work in education policy and youth organizing; therefore, anything related to engaging with young people and ensuring that their voices and experiences reflect the policy we craft is something I care deeply about. Additionally, for years, our schools have been disinvested from and I am excited to imagine the potential to organize and work with our state, county, and city partners to fight for equitable funding for our kids.
