Hochheimer's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
2nd Amendment: As a legal immigrant to the United States I support individual’s rights to possess and use firearms without burdensome regulations placed upon them. Two of my sons served in the military to defend this right. I am a member of the NRA because I strongly believe we must do all we can to protect this right from being hindered. Energy: The main problem is that we need to find a way to reduce our need for fossil fuels, and to do this we need fossil energy, if we like it or not. Government: In my opinion, this election is the most serious one since we immigrated to the United States (30 years ago), because it will determine if we get to decide what is best for us, or if Government will make decisions for us. I will fight for individual freedom and liberty so we will still be able to make our own decisions and not have government and bureaucrats make them for us. I also believe that political correctness will be the death of our republic if we don’t stop it. One cannot solve problems if we are not allowed to speak about them. ColoradoCare: It failed in Vermont and it will fail here. I have experienced socialism and this is socialism at its worst. I also know as a German, that one has to stop fascism and socialism at the beginning or it is too late. To give 15 people (later 21) who cannot be recalled nor are accountable to voters a blank check and call it health care will be disastrous for us. I know that sudden changes will not work, but I will explore ways to bring down health care premiums and allow people to be able to afford it. Present problems I see in the fact that the insurance companies are for profit, the enormous premiums doctors have to pay for malpractice insurance, as well as all insured have to pay for the treatment of people without insurance. I will explore possibilities to establish nonprofit insurance by creating entities which will have self-insurance as for example Loveland. However, to say it clearly, in my opinion change should not happen by government regulations or force (as in the case of Amendment 69), but by providing incentives and ideas.[6] |
