Six seats on the Harford County Public Schools school board in Maryland were up for general election on November 6, 2018. In his bid for re-election, District A incumbent Jansen Robinson ran unopposed. Newcomer David Bauer also ran unopposed for the open District B seat. The race for the open District C seat included Jim Antal and Kathryn Carmello, and the race for the open District D seat included Alfred Williamson and Tamera Rush. District E incumbent Rachel Gauthier faced Arthur Kaff. In District F, incumbent Thomas Fitzpatrick ran against Sonja Karwacki.[1]

The Harford County Education Association endorsed District A incumbent Jansen Robinson, District C candidates Jim Antal and Kathryn Carmello, District D candidate Alfred Williamson, District E incumbent Rachel Gauthier, and District F candidate Sonja Karwacki.[2]

Harford County Public Schools is located in Maryland. The district was the eighth-largest school district in the state in the 2014–2015 school year and served 37,536 students.[3]
Pivot Counties

There are no Pivot Counties in Maryland. Pivot Counties are counties that voted for Barack Obama (D) in 2008 and 2012 and for Donald Trump (R) in 2016. Altogether, the nation had 206 Pivot Counties, with most being concentrated in upper midwestern and northeastern states.
In the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton (D) won Maryland with 60.3 percent of the vote. Donald Trump (R) received 33.9 percent. In presidential elections between 1789 and 2016, Maryland voted Democratic 52 percent of the time and Republican 21 percent of the time. In the five presidential elections between 2000 and 2016, Maryland voted Democratic all five times.[4]
