Former TV judge Joe Brown jailed for contempt
In March 2014, former television judge Joe Brown appeared before juvenile court magistrate Horne to represent a woman in a child support case.[2]
Brown, whose reality show ended in 2013, allegedly began shouting and became verbally abusive. He was ordered by Horne to calm down. When the attorney continued his outburst, he was arrested and charged with five counts of contempt. Following a contempt hearing, he spent five days in jail.[3][4]
Brown later said he should not have been jailed. "When I insisted that the woman's charges be dismissed. (The judge) started talking about, I'm not an attorney so-and-so. ... I said, 'You know, it's wrong. ... You're better than this,'" Brown explained, adding he should only have been fined.[4]
