The Harrison County School District is located in southern Mississippi in Harrison County. The county seats are Biloxi and Gulfport. Harrison County was home to 201,410 residents in 2015, according to the United States Census Bureau.[4] The district was the fourth-largest school district in the state in the 2013–2014 school year and served 14,168 students.[5]

Demographics

Harrison County outperformed Mississippi as a whole in terms of higher education achievement from 2010 to 2014. The United States Census Bureau found that 20.8 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 20.4 percent of state residents. The median household income for the county was $42,285, compared to $39,464 for the state. The percentage of people below poverty level in the county was 18.8 percent, compared to 22.0 percent in the state.[4]
