There were two Harrison Sales Tax Renewal measures on the March 9 ballot in Boone County for voters in the city of Harrison.

Both measure were approved with the same amount of votes.

  • YES 517 Approveda
  • NO 162[1]

The first sales tax renewal was for a one-half cent tax that goes strictly towards maintaining infrastructure in the city.

The second sales tax renewal was for a quarter of a cent tax that goes towards operation costs of the city.

Both taxes were approved in 2002, but were set to expire in June of 2010. City officials held meetings to ensure that city voters knew these taxes were renewals and not increases and to tell voters that the money was important for keeping the city running.[2]
