Three Harrison Township Property Tax Increase Proposals were on the August 6, 2013, election ballot for voters in Harrison Township in Macomb County, which is in Michigan. Two were approved and one was defeated.
The first proposal authorized a property tax levy renewal of 6.68 mills ($6.68 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for three years in order to fund police, fire and general operation services. Last year 77.7% of voters approved the 6.68 mill levy for one year.
The second proposal funded emergency medical services through a 0.5 mill ($0.5 per 1,000 of assessed valuation) property tax levy. This levy will be collected for ten years.
The third proposal sought to authorize a property tax levy of .5 mill ($ .50 on each $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of ten (10) years in order to fund a library system in the township.[1]

Shall the authorized Charter Millage for Fire Operations purposes within the Charter Township of Harrison, Macomb County, Michigan be increased by up to 0.5000 mills ($0.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) upon real and tangible personal property, which will raise estimated revenues of $413,137.00 in the first year, of which up to 0.5000 mills shall be allocated for fire protection services, including vehicles, apparatus, equipment, housing, personnel, and emergency medical and ambulance service for Year 2014, Year 2015, and Year 2016? The estimate of the revenue the Township will collect if the millage is approved and levied in the 2013 calendar year is approximately $413,000.
