Harry Jay Altman II
Harry Jay Altman II is the chief judge for the Southern Judicial District of the 2nd Superior Court District in Georgia. He was appointed to court in 1994 by Governor Zell Miller. Altman won re-election in the nonpartisan general election on May 24, 2016.[1]
In September 2011, Altman served in place of Justice David Nahmias in a case on the Georgia Supreme Court.[1]
Biography
Altman received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University and his J.D. University of Georgia School of Law. Before joining the court, he was an attorney in private practice.[1]

Elections
2016
Georgia held elections for local judicial offices—some of which are partisan, others of which are nonpartisan—in 2016. On May 24, 2016, regions across the state held primaries for the partisan races and general elections for the nonpartisan races. Runoff races for both the partisan primaries and the nonpartisan general elections were held on July 26, 2016. The general election for partisan races took place on November 8, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was March 11, 2016.[2]
Incumbent Harry Jay Altman, II ran unopposed in the general election for one of 11 seats up for election on the 2nd District of the Georgia Superior Court.

Altman ran unopposed for re-election to the Southern Superior Court.[3] He was re-elected after receiving 99.6 percent of the vote on July 31, 2012.[4]
