Harry P. Freitas is a former judge of the Hawai`i Third Circuit District Court of Hawaii. He was appointed to this position by Chief Justice Ronald Moon and took office on June 1, 2007. Freitas was re-appointed to another term in May 2013.[1] He retired upon completion of that term in May 2019.[2]

Education

Freitas first earned an associate degree from Windward Community College. He attended Honolulu Community College and West Oahu College while working first as a police officer and then as a firefighter in Honolulu. Freitas earned a J.D. from the University of California - Hastings College of Law in 1990.[3]

Career

From 2002 until his appointment, Freitas worked as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Hawaii County, specializing in civil litigation. Prior to that, he was the deputy public defender of the State of Hawaii, Hilo Office, and briefly an attorney for his own solo practice.[4]
