A Hastings City Municipal Cemetery Tax Levy Increase Charter Amendment proposal is on the May 7, 2013, election ballot in Barry County, which is in Michigan.
If approved, this measure amends the City of Hastings Charter to increase its property taxes by 1 mill ($1 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for the year of 2013 in order to fund the maintenance of the municipal cemetery.[1]

“ | This proposal will allow the City of Hastings to levy up to 1.00 mill on all taxable property
to receive revenue to support the operation and maintenance of a municipal cemetery. Shall the City of Hastings amend the Hastings Charter, to increase the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all taxable property within the City of Hastings by one mill ($1.00 on each $1,000.00 of taxable valuation) for the year 2013 and forward, to provide funds for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of a municipal cemetery?[1][2] |
