The Hawaii Restrictions on Nuclear Energy, Amendment 26, also known as Amendment 26, was on the ballot in Hawaii on November 7, 1978, as a convention referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed one new addition to the constitution: Article XI, Section 8. The amendment stated that no nuclear fusion power plant would be constructed or radioactive material disposed of in the state without the prior approval by two-thirds vote in each house of the legislature.[1]
