My families, the Burrells, the Garrisons, the Layes and the Adams, have called Walhalla home for generations. I was born at Greenville Memorial and have lived in Walhalla every day since. I graduated Walhalla High School Class of 2023, I serve on the committee for the South Carolina Bigfoot Festival and I play flute in Oconee Winds. I have been involved in politics for the better part of the past decade. I got my start working on environmental issues and I currently work in the pro-life movement. I am also very passionate about the issue of public education, as my mom is a public elementary school teacher here in Walhalla.
  • I will oppose wasteful spending projects. I will never cast a vote that puts the wants of members of the council and their buddies before the needs of the people of Walhalla. The Greenway was a huge waste of money - nothing more than a glorified sidewalk that doesn't connect anything and hardly anyone uses. Meanwhile, many neighborhoods in Walhalla don't have normal sidewalks or, much more importantly, access to clean water.
  • My number one priority will be working to ensure that everyone in Walhalla has access to clean water. This starts by cutting funds to unnecessary projects and using water funds for water infrastructure. Our city employees deserve to be paid a good and fair wage, be treated with dignity and respect and have new and reliable tools and equipment. This will cost upwards of $25 million and won't happen overnight. However, right now, it is seemingly all talk and no action.
  • If elected, I will vote AGAINST the annexation ordinance. I was the only candidate to speak against the ordinance at the March 25th Walhalla City Council Meeting. I have not heard from a single person outside the Mayor and a few members of the council who support the measure, but I heard from hundreds both inside and outside the current limits who do not support the ordinance. The council needs to listen to the people and scrap it. Additionally, I am not supportive of utility rate or tax hikes.
I believe for too long the City of Walhalla has worked for the council and their buddies and not for the people. I'm passionate about anything that gets Walhalla working for the people from cutting spending to opposing the annexation ordinance to standing against tax and utility rate hikes.
Local government is key. While we can complain all night and day about what is going on up in Washington or down in Columbia, what is happening right here in Walhalla and where the council is spending money locally can often be even more important.
My Mimi is my rock and is why I do what I do. She was one of over ten siblings and worked all her life to take care of her family, even if she doesn't have a lot to give.
Someone who will be blunt and tell you the hard, honest truth and that is exactly what I will do if I am elected. I am not going to make a bunch of promises that I can't keep, but I will always do my best to work for the people and make Walhalla the best place to work, live and raise a family in the Palmetto State.
I am fericly independent and I am not affraid to stand alone on the council if that means I am stand for what is right for the people of Walhalla.
The core responsibility of elected officials is to work for the people. When the people have made it clear that they oppose a measure, such as the annexation ordinance, the council should listen to the people and scrap it.
The first major event I would say was the election of Donald Trump back in 2016. I was in sixth grade.
I belive we need to be very transparent about these things. While I have seen it worse in other places, we could still do more to ensure people better understand where money is coming from and where money is being spent by the City of Walhalla.
