Heather K. O'Brien is a judge on the Osceola County Court in Florida. She was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist on August 2, 2010 to succeed Ronald A. Legendre. She was re-elected in 2012 for a term that expires in January of 2019.[1][2]

Education

O'Brien received her undergraduate degree from Colorado College and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.[1]

Career

O'Brien began her legal career as a judicial clerk for the Colorado Supreme Court. In 2004, she became an assistant public defender for the Office of the Public Defender for the 9th Circuit. One year later, she was elevated to staff attorney for the 9th Circuit. In 2007, O'Brien became an assistant county attorney with Osceola County. She served in this capacity until appointed to the Osceola County Court in 2010.[1]

2012 election

O'Brien was re-elected in the primary on Aug. 14, 2012, defeating Philip T. Dunlop with 74.1 percent of the vote.[2][3][4]
