Hector Gonzalez (Texas school board member)
Hector Gonzalez (Nonpartisan) was the District 1 member of the Socorro Independent School District Board of Trustees in Texas. Gonzalez lost the general election on May 4, 2019.
Gonzalez was first elected to be the District 1 representative on the Socorro Independent School District Board of Trustees in Texas in 2013 to fill an unexpired two-year term. He won re-election to a full four-year term unopposed in the general election on May 9, 2015.
Biography
Gonzalez was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. In 1971, he entered the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Vietnam conflict and retired from the military in 1991. He went on to work with nonprofit organizations which provided services to people with mental illnesses.[1]
Gonzalez earned a degree in multidisciplinary studies and graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at El Paso. He attends Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. He has two children.[1]

Opposition
Three of the seven seats on the Socorro ISD Board of Trustees were up for election on May 9, 2015. District 1 incumbent Hector Gonzalez won re-election unopposed. The two at-large incumbents, Antonio Ayub and Michael Najera, faced challengers Frank Del Toro and Kenneth Gezelius. Both incumbents won re-election.[2]
