I didn't want to get involved with politics, but politics got involved with me.

Born in Phoenix to undocumented immigrants, I didn’t live a privileged life. Because of their status, employers took advantage of my parents. I grew up in a crowded home with 9 others that couldn’t afford to live alone. My mom and dad took turns skipping meals so that I could eat. Ever since my dad was deported when I was 4 years old, my family feared Arpaio’s racist abuse of power. When SB1070 passed. I feared that my nana and friends would be next. Another critical moment in my life occurred when Donald Trump's presidency threatened the lives of my Dreamer family and friends because of his racist stance against immigration. When George Floyd yelled for his mom, I organized my community to show up for the protests. In that same year, I survived a weapon pulled to my head. I love our community, and these experiences show me that we need to fight to protect it. Throughout the years, I have volunteered for various organizations and candidates to make sure we elected candidates of quality. I knocked on doors to make sure dreamers received in-state tuition, to stop the defunding of public schools, and for a candidate that would have transformed justice within the county attorney's office.

I currently work in public schools with children that have special needs. Our team has positively transformed the lives of many children so that they could enjoy life. These kids inspire me.
  • Workers deserve to unionize without fear of retaliation. At a time when employers are tasked with maximizing profits at the expense of worker’s, we need to guarantee worker’s rights and protect the right to unionize. Unions fight on behalf of workers and negotiate better contracts with high pay, better benefits, and protections in the workplace. Worker’s all across the country deserve FMLA and parental leave. Studies show that newborn children benefit from having both parents with them for longer durations. That is why I’m supporting guaranteed paid family leave for 6 months. If other countries can do this, so can the United States. Our children deserve to have their parents present in the beginning critical stages of their lives.
  • The United States touts itself as the richest nation in the world. COVID exposed how crucial it is that everyone be guaranteed healthcare regardless of employment status. During the pandemic, millions of people lost their jobs during a health crisis. Because of this, people suffered and incurred substantial amounts of medical debt. As it stands, profits drive the private healthcare industry's decisions and it has cost us lives and financial burdens. Private insurers look at illness and see profits. No one should die by not being able to afford healthcare. We must remove the profit motive from healthcare services.
  • The hard truth is that if we don't address the climate crisis immediately, it will be too late for humanity. We are facing water shortages, declining food sources, increasing weather disasters all due to our government's negligence with the health of our planet. This is the biggest issue facing our people at the moment. We MUST build a sustainable future now that creates countless jobs for a cleaner Earth. We need efficient green solutions that address the needs of working people. We must pass a green new deal, hold dirty energy companies accountable, transition communities and workers with an equitably process, and invest in public transportation with modern infrastructure.
Education, worker’s rights, climate change, and social safety nets.
