Biography

Hector Oseguera was born in Hoboken, New Jersey. He received a bachelor's degree from Boston University in 2010 and a Juris Doctor from New England Law Boston in 2014. Oseguera's professional experience includes working as an anti-money laundering analyst. He has been associated with AF&AM.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a life-long Hudson County resident and lawyer whose professional life has focused on preventing criminals and terrorist organizations from laundering funds through our financial system. This is an unprecedented grassroots campaign to give working class Americans in New Jersey's 8th Congressional District a voice in our political destiny by: shining a light on the rising cost of housing, fixing the dysfunctional healthcare system, and rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure. Americans are disgusted with the political gamesmanship in Washington, and I am the only Democrat is running to break the gridlock and show that WE DESERVE BETTER!

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Alleviating the rising cost of healthcare and housing on working class Americans should be the primary concern of our Congressional representative.
• The United States should not be exporting billions of taxpayer dollars to fund regime change across the globe, when our infrastructure at home is in desperate need of repair.
• The War on Drugs is a failed policy that has incarcerated a generation of black and Hispanic men for mostly non-violent offenses.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Immigration, Criminal Justice Reform, Infrastructure, Healthcare, National Defense, the Economy

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Our Congressman should be responsive to the needs and concerns of the working class Americans, not wealthy donors and Political Action Committees.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I hope to leave a district where working class American can thrive, knowing that if they work a full-time job they won't have to worry about putting food on the table or going bankrupt because they had the misfortune of coming down with an illness.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

Americans are looking for change, and the people who got us into these problems will not lead us out. Standing with the working class is more important than a lengthy resume in government.

What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

America's greatest challenge will be to ensure that the middle class is healthy and thrives, and that we do not become an oligarchy where a few wealthy families and their hand-picked representatives in government hoard the nation's wealth an opportunities.
