Ramirez ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico House of Representatives District 61. He defeated Paul Phillip Roybal in the Democratic primary on June 5, 2012. He was defeated by Republican David Gallegos in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
