Heidi Ladd is a judge of the Sixth Circuit of Illinois.[1] She was first elected to the court in 2004.[2] Ladd was retained in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Education
Ladd earned a B.A. from the University of Illinois, going on to receive her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1982.[2]
Career
From 1999 until her circuit court election in 2004, Ladd served an appointment as associate judge. Prior to joining the bench, she spent 18 years as a lead prosecutor in the Champaign County State's Attorney's Office.[2]
Ladd has also served as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, the University of Illinois College of Law. Since 1993 she has taught trial advocacy and continues to teach for the Appellate Prosecutors Advanced Trial Advocacy Program and the Illinois Judicial Education Programs.[2]
Awards and associations
In 2009, Ladd received the Distinguished Alumna Award from the University of Illinois.[2]
Elections
2016
Judges of the Illinois Circuit Court stand for retention after their first full term. To be retained, a judge must receive at least 60 percent of the vote.[3][4] Heidi Ladd was retained in the Illinois Sixth Circuit Court, Heidi Ladd Retention Election with 83.03 percent of the vote.
