Married for 38 years to Dave Johnson, I am the mother of four adult children and three grandchildren. My BA is from Mills College, Oakland CA, in Administration and Legal Processes. In the 1980's I was employed by a retailer and a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
I have a proven track record of representing the values of the Democrat Party. While president of the Washington State Association of Counties, I successfully worked across the aisle to address the needs of rural communities and as Washington State Senator, I will continue to work in a bi-artisan manner to focus on the needs of 10th Legislative District.- Affordable housing is needed for a resilient community.
- Climate change is real and needs action now.
- Access to healthcare services require new models to meet the needs of the community.
Climate change is real and is happening now. Government at every level must lead the way in reducing our carbon footprint, through both the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and more active sequestration. The State must continue to provide incentives for renewal energy and address the solid waste crisi of plastic packaging.
The 10th LD has a high percentage of seniors and veterans. We need a state-wide plan to improve access to physical and behavioral healthcare services and reduce prescription drug costs. New models need to be considered to segment the solutions.
