I am an Independent running for the U.S. Congress - CA, 22nd dist. I have been registered as a democrat since 1989, I am filed as an Independent to remain moderate. I attended the College of the Sequoias: 1987 - 1989 and the Art Institute of Seattle: 1989 - 1991. My family has been in the Fresno, Laton and Hanford area since the 1920's. My Grandfather Lawrence Heman was the president of the republican party in Kings County and president of the chamber of commerce for 10 years in Hanford. In 1995 I started my line of furniture made from old barn wood and reclaimed trees in San Luis Obispo. In 2016 I helped run the Bernie Sanders campaign for California and was part of the delegation to the Philadelphia DNC. We were part of the UpToUs tour across America, having events in 8 cities. The finale event was St Marks church in Ferguson, MO.
I am primarily interested in the environment and the future for the children. This has to do with stopping the Wall St banks/corporations from controlling both political parties and socially engineering American society. Agriculture is the most important profession there is, there is no food without farmers. Civilization has always developed new methods of farming, we need to innovate in ways that are healthier for the environment.
All the Presidents Men. Fahrenheit, The UpToUs documentary we made while driving across country to the DNC Philadelphia, with Rosario and Shailene.
Honesty, can handle pressure, know when to keep your mouth shut.
I tell the truth. I am committed to what I believe but know the art of politics is to compromise.
Not to lie to the citizens, always remember who you're working for.
I started working at the Hill family Chevrolet dealership at age 12, sweeping floors.
I primarily read history books.
You are able to meet with the citizens directly, the accessibility the voters have to talk with you.
The climate crisis. Rebuilding the economic infrastructure, from the corporations globalization crimes that has destroyed the working class.
The U.S. Congress should be limited to 5 terms.
There are a few politicians on both sides who have made correct decisions, Jimmy Carter would be one.
One would be the father of a man who was shot and killed by the Fresno authorities. He was talking at the Fresno democrats monthly meeting, it was the same thing I heard at St Marks church in Ferguson; young men of color are looked upon as the enemy and the authorities think they are in combat. This is why the entire concept of our laws/judiciary needs to be re-engineered, so that they are not an occupying army keeping the Wall St banks/corporations in power.
