Henry Augustus Middleton Smith (1853-1924) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.[1]

He was nominated by President William Howard Taft on May 25, 1911 to fill the seat vacated by William Hiram Brawley. He was confirmed by the Senate on June 7, 1911, and received commission that same day. On January 1, 1912, he was reassigned to the United States District Court for the Western District of South Carolina and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of South Carolina. He served on the Western District until March 3, 1915, but remained on the Eastern District. On November 23, 1923, he assumed senior status. He died one year later, on November 23, 1924.[1] Smith was succeeded in this position by Ernest Ford Cochran.
