Henry N. Brown, Jr. was the chief judge of the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal. He was first elected to the court in 1991.[1] He retired October 3, 2018.[2]

Education

Judge Brown was a 1959 graduate of Bossier High School, and a 1962 graduate of Louisiana State University. He earned his J.D. from LSU Law School in January 1966.

Career

After serving as a paratrooper in Vietnam, Brown became an Orleans Parish assistant district attorney in 1968. He was in private practice in 1969 until he became chief assistant district attorney for Bossier/Webster Parish in 1972. In 1975, Brown was elected district attorney for the 26th Judicial District (Bossier and Webster Parishes), where he served through 1990. In 1991, Brown was elected to the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeals.[1]

Awards and associations

Judge Brown was named Outstanding Young Man of Louisiana (Louisiana Jaycees) in 1976. He also received the American Legion/Exchange Club’s Voice of Freedom Award in 1989. He is a member of First United Methodist Church of Bossier City.[1]

Biographical details

Judge Brown was born on December 30, 1941, in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, but moved with his family to Bossier City in 1944. His father, Henry Brown, Sr., worked as a civil engineer with the state highway department and his mother, Louise Craighead Brown, was a school teacher.
