Fifth Circuit
Henry Potter was a federal judge on the United States Circuit Court for the Fifth Circuit. He received a recess appointment from Thomas Jefferson on May 9, 1801. He was then nominated by President Thomas Jefferson on January 6, 1802. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 26, 1802, and received commission on that same day. He served until April 7, 1802, when he was appointed to another position.
Albemarle, Cape Fear & Pamptico Districts of North Carolina
Henry Potter was also a federal judge on the Albemarle, Cape Fear & Pamptico Districts of North Carolina. He was nominated by President Thomas Jefferson on April 6, 1802. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 7, 1802, and received commission on that same day. He served until his death on December 20, 1857.
