Herb Wesson Jr.
Herb Wesson Jr. was a member of the Los Angeles City Council in California, representing District 10. Wesson left office on December 14, 2020.
Wesson ran for election to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to represent District 2 in California. Wesson lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Before becoming a council member, Wesson represented the 47th Assembly District in the California State Assembly from 1998-2004. During his tenure, he served as the 65th Speaker of the California State Assembly.[1]
On February 22, 2022, Wesson was appointed by the Los Angeles City Council to temporarily serve District 10 for Mark Ridley-Thomas, who was suspended from the council.[2]
Wesson resigned from the Los Angeles City Council on August 25, 2022.[3]
Biography
Wesson, Jr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned a B.A. in history from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania in 1999.[1]

2015
The city of Los Angeles, California, held elections for city council on May 19, 2015. A primary election took place on March 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was December 3, 2014. Seven of the 15 city council seats were up for election.[4]
In the primary election for District 10, incumbent Herb J. Wesson, Jr. faced Delaney "Doc" Smith and Grace Yoo. Because Wesson received over 50% of the vote, the general election for District 10 was called off.[5]
