Herbert H. Slatery
Herbert H. Slatery (Republican Party) was the Attorney General of Tennessee. Slatery assumed office on October 1, 2014. Slatery left office on August 31, 2022.
Tennessee is unique in that the attorney general is appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court, rather than by the governor. Slatery was sworn into office on October 1, 2014, for an eight-year term.[1] He succeeded Robert E. Cooper Jr. (D), who served from 2006 to 2014. Slatery resigned on August 31, 2022.[2]
Slatery served as counsel to Gov. Bill Haslam (R) prior to his appointment as attorney general.
Biography
Slatery's career prior to joining the Haslam administration included serving 13 years as president and chairman of Egerton, McAfee, Armistead & Davis, P.C., a law firm in Knoxville, Tennessee.[3]
