Herbert L. Chabot was an Article I federal judge on the United States Tax Court. He was nominated to his first fifteen-year term by President Jimmy Carter and his second by President Bill Clinton. He retired and took senior status in 2001.[1][2]

Education

Chabot earned his B.A. from City College of New York in 1951 and his LL.B. from Columbia University in 1957. He also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University in 1964.[2]

Military career

Chabot spent two years in the United States Army and eight years in the United States Army Reserve.[2]

  • 1965-1978: Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation

Judicial nominations and appointments

Tax Court

Chabot was nominated to the United States Tax Court by President Jimmy Carter on March 8, 1978. He was reappointed in 1993 by President Bill Clinton. Chabot retired in 2001.[2]
