Herman Jacob Weber is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.[1]

Early life and education

A native of Lima, Ohio, Weber received his bachelor's degree from Otterbein College in 1949 and his J.D. from Ohio State University's College of Law in 1952.[1]

Weber was first nominated by President Ronald Reagan on September 17, 1984, to a new judgeship created by 98 Stat. 333. Hearings on Weber's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 26, 1984. On October 18, 1984, pursuant to Rule XXXI, paragraph six of the standing rules of the Senate, Weber's nomination was returned to the president. President Reagan resubmitted Weber's nomination on February 28, 1985, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) on April 3, 1985, without additional hearings. Weber was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on April 3, 1985, and he received his commission on April 4, 1985. Weber elected to take senior status on January 1, 2002.[1][2][3] Weber was succeeded in this position by Judge Thomas Rose.
