A Hernando County Land Levy Referendum Advisory question is on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Hernando County, which is in Florida, where it was defeated.
If approved, this question would have advised the continuation of a 1/10 mill ($0.1 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) until 2021 in order to fund the acquisition and maintenance of environmentall-sensitive lands. If rejected, this question advises that such tax not be continued. This is a non-binding referendum and no action will occur directly from this question.[1]

“ | In 1988, Hernando County's voters approved a property tax levy, at a rate of one-tenth of one mill (.1 mil), to fund the acquisition and maintenance of environmentally-sensitive lands. That levy ceased in 2011. The referendum asks whether the levy shall be resumed. Shall the Board of County Commissioners levy a property tax of up to one-tenth of one mill (.1 mil) to fund the acquisition, management, and maintenance of environmentally-sensitive lands, with the program to sunset on September 30, 2021?
